AI-Powered ultrasound training could save lives in cardiac arrest

NCT ID NCT06567912

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study is testing a new training program that teaches doctors how to use a special ultrasound (TEE) during cardiac arrest. The program includes a lecture and hands-on practice with a simulator. Researchers are also developing an AI tool to assess how well doctors perform. The goal is to see if this training helps doctors get better at using ultrasound, which could lead to faster and more accurate treatment for patients in cardiac arrest. The study involves 100 junior doctors.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

TEE simulation curriculum (lecture and hands-on training on a simulation model)

What this could lead to

If successful, this could improve how quickly and accurately doctors use ultrasound during cardiac arrest, potentially leading to better patient outcomes.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage educational study focused on training, not a direct treatment. The AI tool may not work perfectly in real emergencies, and better training does not guarantee better survival.
