AI learns to spot tricky airways before surgery

NCT ID NCT07152093

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tested whether an artificial intelligence (AI) model could predict difficult intubation (placing a breathing tube) by analyzing video images from a scope used during surgery. Researchers looked at 132 adults having elective surgery and compared the AI's predictions to expert doctors' opinions. The goal was to see if AI could help anesthesiologists prepare better for challenging airways.
