First seen Jan 20, 2026 · Last updated Jun 16, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study tested whether artificial intelligence can help dentists perform ridge splitting—a procedure to widen a narrow jawbone—and place dental implants at the same time. Twenty-two adults with thin upper jawbones were randomly assigned to either AI-guided or conventional surgery. The goal was to see which approach better preserved bone width and height over 9 months.
