AI vs. doctors: who picks the best day for IVF?

NCT ID NCT07515118

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether an artificial intelligence program called STIMAI® can help choose the best day to give the final 'trigger' shot in IVF, compared to doctors making the decision alone. About 644 women undergoing ovarian stimulation for IVF will be randomly assigned to either AI-guided or doctor-led care. The main goal is to see if the number of mature eggs retrieved is similar between the two groups.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
STIMAI® artificial intelligence software
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that AI can help doctors make better decisions about when to trigger ovulation, potentially improving IVF success rates and reducing the burden on patients.
What could go wrong
This is an early-stage trial comparing AI to standard care, so it may not show a clear benefit. The AI is only a decision-support tool, and final decisions rest with the doctor, limiting its direct impact.
