AI-Powered navigation aims to boost colon cancer screening in 45-49 year olds

NCT ID NCT07230795

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study uses artificial intelligence to find people aged 45-49 who are at higher risk for colorectal cancer but have never been screened. Participants are randomly assigned to receive either standard care or extra help from a patient navigator who guides them through getting a stool test or colonoscopy. The goal is to see if this personalized outreach increases screening rates and catches cancer earlier.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

patient navigation

What this could lead to

If successful, this approach could increase colorectal cancer screening rates and catch more cancers early in younger adults.

What could go wrong

This is a behavioral intervention study, not a drug trial. The AI risk model may not be perfectly accurate, and screening uptake may not increase as hoped.
