AI maps may help surgeons remove more deadly brain tumors
NCT ID NCT05735171
First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated Jun 11, 2026 · Updated 21 times
Summary
This study tested a new way to guide brain surgery for glioblastoma, a fast-growing and hard-to-treat brain cancer. Doctors used artificial intelligence (AI) to create maps showing where the tumor is likely to come back, then removed extra tissue beyond the visible tumor. The goal was to see if this approach is safe and could help patients live longer. The study included 20 adults whose tumors were in areas of the brain that could be safely operated on.
