First seen Jan 06, 2026 · Last updated May 05, 2026 · Updated 14 times
Summary
This study will test whether artificial intelligence (AI) can accurately identify and assess the risk of mouth lesions that might turn into cancer. Researchers will use photos of the lesions and images of cells collected by gently brushing the mouth, comparing the AI's performance to that of specialists. The goal is to develop a non-invasive, reliable tool to help dentists catch oral cancer earlier. The study plans to enroll 120 participants with conditions like oral lichen planus, leukoplakia, or non-healing ulcers.
