NCT ID NCT07387185

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study is testing whether an artificial intelligence system can help doctors find signs of damage in the small bowel during endoscopy. The AI is trained to spot atrophy and other abnormalities linked to celiac disease and similar conditions. Researchers will compare the AI's accuracy to standard human review and biopsy results. The study involves 380 adults undergoing small bowel endoscopy.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
Artificial intelligence system
What this could lead to
If successful, this AI could help doctors diagnose celiac disease and other gut conditions more accurately and quickly during endoscopy.
What could go wrong
This is an early-stage observational study, so the AI may not perform better than standard methods in real-world settings. It is not a treatment and does not directly benefit participants.
