AI takes the wheel: robot lung scope goes autonomous
NCT ID NCT07368829
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether an artificial intelligence (AI) system can automatically guide a robotic bronchoscope to the right spot in the lungs, without needing a doctor to manually align the images. Twenty adults with suspicious lung nodules will have the procedure using the Langhe Bronchoscopy Robot System. The main goals are to see how often the AI succeeds on its own and how often a doctor has to step in.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
AI-driven autonomous registration software (device)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could make lung nodule biopsies faster and more consistent by reducing the need for manual adjustments during the procedure.
What could go wrong
This is a very small early feasibility study with only 20 participants. The AI may not work reliably in all cases, and there are standard risks like bleeding or lung collapse from the bronchoscopy itself.
