Can a Pre-Procedure painkiller ease the pain of lung nodule marking?

NCT ID NCT07675473

First seen Jun 30, 2026 · Last updated Jul 01, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This trial tests whether giving the painkiller parecoxib before a CT-guided wire placement can reduce pain during lung nodule localization for surgery. About 150 adults with lung cancer scheduled for video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery will receive either parecoxib or a placebo before the wire placement. Researchers will also explore the best timing for the medication to maximize pain relief.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
parecoxib sodium
What this could lead to
If effective, this could establish a simple, non-opioid pain relief strategy for patients undergoing lung nodule localization before surgery.
What could go wrong
This is a single-center, Phase 4 trial with 150 participants, so results may not apply broadly. The placebo group also receives no active painkiller, so pain differences may be small.
