AI watches brain surgery to train doctors without getting in the way

NCT ID NCT07568366

First seen May 07, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether artificial intelligence can help surgical teams during pituitary tumor surgery performed through the nose. The AI watches live video of the surgery to identify anatomy and instruments, then shows its analysis on tablets for residents and nurses—not the lead surgeon—so the team can follow along without interrupting. About 30 adult patients will take part, and the goal is to see if the AI system works reliably and safely in the operating room.
