NCT ID NCT07441382

First seen Mar 07, 2026 · Last updated May 07, 2026 · Updated 9 times

Summary

This study compares two treatments for elderly frail patients with atrial fibrillation (AFib) who are at high risk for both stroke and bleeding. One group gets a heart procedure (catheter ablation) plus a device to close off a part of the heart (left atrial appendage occlusion), while the other group gets ablation plus blood-thinning medication. The goal is to see which approach better prevents strokes and major bleeding over one year. The study will enroll 200 participants aged 75 and older.
