New radiotherapy technique aims to cut prostate cancer treatment side effects
NCT ID NCT07245745
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study compares adaptive radiotherapy (ART) with conventional radiotherapy in 188 men with prostate cancer. ART adjusts the radiation beam daily to account for changes in organ position, potentially reducing digestive and urinary side effects. Patients will report their symptoms through questionnaires and a mobile app. The goal is to see if ART leads to fewer and shorter-lasting side effects.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Radiotherapy (adaptive vs. conventional)
What this could lead to
If successful, adaptive radiotherapy could become a standard approach to reduce digestive and urinary side effects during prostate cancer treatment.
What could go wrong
This is a non-randomized, observational study with only 188 participants, so results may not apply broadly. The adaptive technique may not significantly reduce side effects compared to conventional methods.
