Summary
This study tests a refined computer alert that prompts emergency room doctors to order a consultation with an addiction counselor for patients with opioid use disorder. Researchers will enroll 300 adults with moderate to severe opioid use disorder who visit the ER. The goal is to see if the alert increases the number of patients who receive counseling and buprenorphine treatment.

What this could lead to
If successful, this alert system could help more people with opioid use disorder get timely addiction counseling and medication in the emergency room.
What could go wrong
