Knee surgery recovery gets a digital boost: new app trial aims to restore muscle control faster

NCT ID NCT07030764

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study tests whether adding a digital therapy app (DOCT'UP®) to standard physical therapy helps people regain muscle control in the thigh after ACL knee surgery. About 448 adults who are scheduled for ACL reconstruction will be split into two groups: one gets standard rehab, the other adds the app. The goal is to see if the app reduces a common problem called 'arthrogenic muscle inhibition' (AMI), where the brain fails to fully activate the quadriceps muscle after injury.
