Inside the knee: new navigation tech could make ACL surgery more precise

NCT ID NCT07655726

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tracks how the knee bones move during ACL reconstruction surgery. Using a special navigation system, researchers measure the positions of the thigh and shin bones before and after placing the new ligament. The goal is to better understand knee motion during surgery, which could help surgeons place grafts more accurately and reduce the chance of future failure. The study involves 30 people aged 18 to 40 who are already scheduled for ACL and ALL reconstruction.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If successful, this could help surgeons place ACL grafts more precisely, potentially lowering the chance of repeat injury.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage exploratory study focused on measurement, not a direct test of a new treatment. It may not lead to changes in surgical practice.
