Which Enamel-Shaving method works best for clear aligners? new trial aims to find out
NCT ID NCT07377825
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study will test three common techniques for removing a tiny amount of enamel between teeth to make room for clear aligners. Seventy-five adults will be randomly assigned to manual strips, motor-driven strips, or abrasive discs. The main goal is to see which method most closely matches the planned amount of enamel removal, and how each affects gum health over six weeks.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this study could help orthodontists choose the most accurate and gum-friendly method for creating space between teeth during clear aligner treatment.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial focused on measurement accuracy, not a treatment outcome. Results may not apply to all patients or aligner systems.
