Short step test may simplify fitness checks for lung patients

NCT ID NCT07193173

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looks at whether a 2-minute step test can accurately measure exercise ability in people with pulmonary hypertension, compared to the standard 6-minute walk test. Researchers will enroll 35 adults with the condition and measure oxygen use, heart rate, and breathlessness during both tests. If the step test proves valid, it could offer a faster, space-saving alternative for routine checkups.

What could go wrong

This is a small, observational study with only 35 people. It does not test a treatment, so it won't directly improve health.
