First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study is testing whether a special PET scan called 18F-FSPG can help doctors see how well chemotherapy and radiation are working in people with esophageal cancer. Nine adults with untreated, locally advanced esophageal cancer will get the scan before and during treatment. The goal is to find a non-invasive way to measure treatment response early.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If successful, this could provide a new way to quickly see if treatment is working, helping doctors adjust therapy sooner.

What could go wrong

This is a very small, early study with only 9 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The scan is experimental and may not reliably predict treatment response.
