First seen Feb 11, 2026 · Last updated Jun 17, 2026 · Updated 22 times
Summary
This study looks at how a brief writing therapy called Written Exposure Therapy (WET) works for people with both PTSD and substance use disorders who are in residential treatment. About 108 participants will either do WET or neutral writing alongside their usual care. Researchers will measure PTSD symptoms, substance use, and physical responses like heart rate and cravings to trauma cues, and also explore how sex hormones may affect these changes.
