Needle-Free bowel care: wireless patch tested for spinal cord injury

NCT ID NCT06351852

First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 18, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This early-stage study tested whether a small, wireless patch could safely deliver two bowel medications (neostigmine and glycopyrrolate) through the skin using a tiny, unnoticeable electric current. Only 2 able-bodied volunteers took part to check safety and how the drugs enter the body. The goal is to eventually help people with spinal cord injury manage bowel problems without needles.
