New tools could predict relapse in common blood vessel disease

NCT ID NCT07246577

First seen Nov 24, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study looks at giant cell arteritis, a condition that causes inflammation in blood vessels and is common in older adults. Researchers want to find better ways to predict who will have a relapse and how well treatment is working. They will use ultrasound scans and blood tests to develop tools that could help doctors personalize care and reduce side effects from long-term steroid use. About 340 people with suspected GCA will take part.
