Vending machines could save lives from opioid overdose

NCT ID NCT06429436

First seen Nov 15, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study looks at whether placing naloxone—a medication that can reverse an opioid overdose—in vending machines makes it easier for people to get it. Researchers will track how many naloxone kits are given out before and after the machines are installed in communities. Anyone in the community can use the machines, and the goal is to reduce deaths from opioid overdoses.
