New study peers into Doctors' decisions on breathing tubes for tiniest babies
NCT ID NCT06808997
First seen Jan 08, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 20 times
Summary
This study watches how doctors decide when to remove breathing tubes (extubation) in extremely preterm babies (born before 28 weeks) during their first two weeks of life. Researchers will ask doctors daily why they choose to keep or remove the tube, and track whether the baby stays off the machine. The goal is to understand current practices and improve future care for these fragile infants.
