Inside the NICU: what drives the decision to remove a Preemie's breathing tube?
NCT ID NCT06808997
First seen Jan 08, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 18 times
Summary
This study looks at how doctors decide when to take extremely preterm babies (born before 28 weeks) off a breathing machine in their first two weeks of life. Researchers will ask doctors daily why they choose to remove the tube or keep it in, and then check if those decisions lead to successful breathing on their own. The goal is to understand current practices and improve care for these fragile infants.
