Summary
This study looks at whether a simple, painless ultrasound can predict the risk of dangerous bleeding from enlarged veins in the esophagus (varices) in people with liver cirrhosis. Researchers will measure spleen size and a key vein's width on ultrasound and compare those results to the standard scope exam. If ultrasound proves reliable, it could spare many patients from needing invasive endoscopic screenings.
