New ultrasound may predict chemo results in weeks, not months

NCT ID NCT07581730

First seen May 16, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests a new ultrasound technique to see if it can predict whether chemotherapy is working for stomach cancer that has spread to the liver. Currently, doctors wait about 2 months for CT or MRI scans to show tumor changes. This ultrasound looks at blood flow inside the tumor after just 1-2 chemo cycles. If successful, it could help doctors adjust treatment faster, reducing side effects and costs for patients. The study plans to enroll 107 adults with newly diagnosed liver metastases who have not yet started treatment.
