Scientists test new method to track a key Nutrient's path in the body
NCT ID NCT06551545
Summary
This small pilot study aimed to develop a new method for measuring how the body breaks down tryptophan, an essential nutrient. Researchers tested this method in 10 healthy young adults by giving them different amounts of tryptophan and tracking its byproducts. The goal is to eventually use this method to study nutrition in premature babies who receive nutrients intravenously, to see if current formulas might produce harmful compounds.
