Scientists trace a Nutrient's path to help vulnerable babies
NCT ID NCT06551545
Summary
This small pilot study aims to develop a new method for measuring how the body breaks down tryptophan, an essential nutrient. Researchers will test this method in 10 healthy young adults by giving them different amounts of tryptophan and tracking its byproducts. The ultimate goal is to use this tool in future studies to check if the high tryptophan levels in intravenous nutrition could be harmful to premature babies' brain development.
