Summary

This study tested whether kidneys from deceased donors with hepatitis C could be safely transplanted into patients without the virus. After transplant, recipients took antiviral medication to cure the hepatitis C infection. The goal was to expand the donor pool and reduce wait times for kidney transplants. The study involved 201 adults with end-stage kidney disease.
