This study looked at 160 adults who had heart surgery to see if using a measure of oxygen in the blood (ScvO2) could lead to better decisions about when to give a blood transfusion, compared to the usual method of using a fixed hemoglobin level. The goal was to see if this approach could reduce unnecessary transfusions and improve patient outcomes. The study is complete, and results will help guide future transfusion practices.
