Scientists track Addicts' stress and drug use in real time

NCT ID NCT00787423

Summary

This study aimed to develop better tools for understanding how daily stress and a person's environment influence drug use. Researchers gave smartphones and GPS devices to about 370 adults in Baltimore who were receiving medication treatment for opioid addiction. For several months, participants used the devices to report their stress levels and drug use in real-time, while also providing urine samples and other data, to help researchers see patterns.
