Tongue scans reveal hidden clues in childhood obesity
NCT ID NCT07370350
First seen Jan 28, 2026 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 18 times
Summary
This study looks at how the tongue changes in children and teens with obesity after a 30-week weight loss program. Researchers will use ultrasound to measure tongue fat, shape, and stiffness, and see how these relate to sleep apnea. About 100 participants aged 6 to 18 will be scanned at the start and end of the program. The goal is to better understand tongue health in obesity, not to provide a treatment.
