First seen Jan 06, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 16 times
Summary
This study tested whether a newer antiplatelet drug, ticagrelor, is better than the standard clopidogrel at preventing heart muscle damage during a procedure called rotational atherectomy, which clears hardened calcium from heart arteries. About 180 adults with stable heart disease or a recent mild heart attack took part. The main goal was to measure troponin levels, a marker of heart injury, in the first 24 hours after the procedure.
