Could testosterone therapy be safe for men with prostate cancer? new trial aims to find out
NCT ID NCT06733350
First seen Feb 14, 2026 · Last updated Jun 18, 2026 · Updated 21 times
Summary
This study looks at whether testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) can be safely used in men with low-risk prostate cancer that hasn't spread, and who are under active surveillance (regular check-ups instead of immediate treatment). Many men with low testosterone have symptoms like low sex drive and erectile problems, but doctors often avoid TRT because of fears it might make the cancer grow. The trial will enroll 600 men and track cancer progression, quality of life, and whether men stay on active surveillance. The goal is to see if TRT can improve well-being without increasing cancer risk.
