Smart radiation bullet targets Hard-to-Treat cancers

NCT ID NCT06710756

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 22, 2026 · Updated 33 times

Summary

This study tests a new type of radiation therapy that specifically targets cancer cells with a protein called FAP. The treatment uses a radioactive substance (lead-212) attached to a molecule that seeks out FAP-positive tumors. The trial includes 112 adults with advanced pancreatic, gastric, esophageal, colorectal, ovarian, head and neck cancers, sarcoma, or mesothelioma who have not responded to standard treatments. The goal is to see if the treatment is safe and to find the best dose.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

A radioactive drug (lead-212 attached to a targeting molecule) that seeks out and delivers radiation to cancer cells with a specific marker (FAP).

What this could lead to

If successful, this could offer a new treatment option for people with advanced solid tumors that have not responded to standard therapies.

What could go wrong

This is an early-phase trial (Phase I/IIa) with a small number of participants, so the treatment may not prove effective or safe for wider use. Radiation side effects are possible.

Conditions

The condition(s) this trial relates to.

colorectal neoplasm Esophageal Neoplasms gastric neoplasm Head and Neck Neoplasms mesothelioma ovarian cancer sarcoma
