Scientists use new PET scan to peek inside brains of MS patients

NCT ID NCT04634994

First seen Jan 10, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 19 times

Summary

This study uses a new type of PET scan to measure the density of synapses (connections between brain cells) in people with progressive multiple sclerosis (MS). Researchers will compare these measurements with those from people with relapsing-remitting MS and healthy volunteers. The goal is to better understand how brain changes relate to disability, thinking problems, and fatigue in MS. About 30 participants will be enrolled.
