First seen Jan 16, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This study looks at two surgical techniques for fixing unstable chest wall injuries (like flail chest) in adults. It compares fixing one break per rib versus fixing two breaks per rib to see which leads to better bone healing, lung function, and less pain. One hundred participants will be randomly assigned to one of the two methods and followed for a year. The goal is to find the best approach to improve recovery and reduce complications.
