New stem cell transplant approach offers hope for kids with tough cancers

NCT ID NCT02508038

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 18, 2026 · Updated 34 times

Summary

This early-stage study tests a new type of stem cell transplant for children whose blood cancers or solid tumors have returned or are hard to treat. The transplant uses a half-matched donor and removes certain immune cells to lower the risk of graft-versus-host disease. A drug called zoledronate is given after transplant to help the new immune system grow. The main goals are to see if the procedure is safe and to measure how well the new immune cells rebuild.
