Radical immune 'Reset' tested for devastating brain and nerve diseases
NCT ID NCT00716066
Summary
This study is testing a high-dose chemotherapy and stem cell transplant procedure for people with severe autoimmune diseases that attack the brain, spinal cord, or nerves. The goal is to 'reset' the patient's faulty immune system to stop it from damaging the nervous system. The trial is for patients whose conditions, like multiple sclerosis or myasthenia gravis, have not improved with standard treatments. Researchers are closely monitoring the safety of this intense procedure and how well it controls the diseases.
