Immune system 'Reset' tested for devastating brain and nerve diseases

NCT ID NCT00716066

Summary

This study is testing a high-dose chemotherapy and stem cell transplant procedure for people with severe autoimmune diseases that attack the brain, spinal cord, or nerves, and who haven't responded to standard treatments. The goal is to 'reset' the patient's immune system to stop it from attacking their own nervous system. Researchers are closely monitoring the safety of this intense treatment and how well it controls these difficult diseases.
