Nerve block may keep heart rhythms steady after major chest surgery

NCT ID NCT06271707

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 28 times

Summary

This study tests whether a numbing injection near a nerve cluster in the neck can lower the chance of a common irregular heartbeat (atrial fibrillation) after lung or esophagus surgery. About 48 adults having these surgeries will receive either the nerve block or standard care. The goal is to see if the block reduces heart rhythm problems in the first week after surgery.
