Shoe study aims to give COPD patients a leg up on walking

NCT ID NCT07445750

First seen Mar 11, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 13 times

Summary

This study tests whether special 'active' sports shoes can help people with severe COPD walk farther during a six-minute walk test. Researchers will compare walking distance in the special shoes versus regular shoes in 75 hospitalized patients. If the shoes improve performance, they could offer a simple, low-cost way to ease breathing trouble and boost daily activity.
