First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 34 times

Summary

This study tests whether injecting sodium thiosulfate directly into painful calcium deposits can shrink them and ease symptoms. It includes 20 adults with scleroderma, dermatomyositis, or mixed connective tissue disease who have calcium buildup in skin or tendons. Participants receive up to three injections guided by ultrasound, and changes are measured by X-ray and patient-reported pain levels over 12 weeks.
