New program tackles smoking and mental health in HIV patients

Summary

This study tested a 9-session program that uses cognitive-behavioral techniques to help people living with HIV quit smoking by reducing anxiety and depression. 131 daily smokers who were motivated to quit took part. The goal was to see if the program led to higher quit rates compared to standard care.
