Phone apps help families tackle pandemic drinking

Summary
This study tested two smartphone apps to reduce risky drinking during COVID-19. One app focused on the drinker, the other involved a family partner. 398 pairs (a drinker and a family member) used the apps for 8 months, with follow-up at 12 months. The goal was to see if family involvement made the app more effective.
