First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 20 times
Summary
This study tested whether a 7-day course of antibiotics works as well as the standard 14-day course for treating ventilator-associated pneumonia caused by drug-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii. The goal was to see if shorter treatment could reduce side effects and antibiotic resistance without increasing the risk of the infection coming back. The study included 41 adults aged 18 to 75 who were on ventilators in the ICU.
