New study explores weight loss and hormones before cancer surgery for better results

NCT ID NCT07462663

First seen Mar 10, 2026 · Last updated Jun 18, 2026 · Updated 19 times

Summary

This study tests whether a 28- to 54-week pre-surgery program—including weight-loss medication, a hormone-releasing IUD, nutrition, and exercise—can safely improve outcomes for women with early-stage endometrial cancer and a BMI of 40 or higher. About 80 participants will be randomly assigned to either standard immediate surgery or the pre-surgery program. The goal is to see if the program is feasible, safe, and acceptable, and whether it reduces surgical risks without allowing the cancer to progress.
