Summary
This study tests whether empagliflozin, a drug used for diabetes, can protect the kidneys and heart in people who have received a heart transplant. About 200 veterans will take either the drug or a placebo daily for 12 months. The goal is to see if the drug improves kidney function and reduces heart and metabolic risks without causing serious side effects.
