First seen Feb 04, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 15 times
Summary
This study analyzed health records of nearly 7,000 older adults (65+) with low kidney function who started taking the antidepressant sertraline. Researchers compared those on a 50 mg daily dose to those on 25 mg to see if the higher dose led to more hospital visits, emergency department visits, or deaths within 30 days. The goal was to understand the safety of different starting doses in this vulnerable group.
